About the event
Beau Dixon is an award-winning actor, musician, playwright, music director and sound designer. With a music career spanning more than 20 years, he has toured extensively throughout Canada, the U.S., and Europe, recorded three solo albums, and recorded and produced numerous albums for professional recording artists. In this family-friendly event, Beau will be taking the audience on a journey through the spirit and legacy of Black Music. Starting with early slave spirituals, then guiding us through the birth of the blues, gospel, reggae and soul, Beau uses these different genres to narrate the evolution of black music and the artists that influenced a new culture and generation of poets, activists, politicians and visionaries.
Born in Detroit, the birthplace of Motown, Beau has music in his roots and developed a passion at an early age. After discovering the music of Stevie Wonder in his parents’ record collection, Beau insisted on taking piano…
