Pastoral Care

Opportunities exist for you to participate in the important ministry of pastoral care.  The All Saints’ pastoral care team currently consists of the clergy including the incumbent, retired clergy and parish deacons and several lay visitors.  We visit primarily our own members in hospital, retirement/nursing centres and members’ homes.  The purpose of our visiting is pastoral care by listening, sharing information from the church, administering communion, scripture reading, prayer and the ministry of healing.   Occasional meetings of the pastoral care team provide support, guidance, training, opportunity to debrief visits and organizing visiting assignments. We also take advantage of training workshops for pastoral care visiting provided outside our parish by the deanery and region.  Volunteers are welcome.  If interested please contact the church office or incumbent for further information.

The Rector’s Bible Study or the Sermon Support Group

Participation in this weekly bible study is fluid and open to all interested participants with about 12 regular members who meet on Wednesday mornings from 10 to 11 am in our comfortable Wilson lounge. We focus on and discuss the bible readings for the coming Sunday.  As a study guide we use a bible commentary entitled Synthesis that is provided to all participants and is also available on line.  The rector provides also provides helpful commentary explaining the context, background and purpose of the reading.  Group members usually engage in lively discussion sharing their reflections of the reading, exploring relevance to contemporary situations and issues and presenting questions for clarification and understanding.  We usually enjoy some visiting, coffee and prayer considering members needs and concerns.  Everyone welcome. Please contact the church office.

Prayer Chain

The All Saints’ Prayer Chain is a group of dedicated parishioners who believe in the “power” of prayer! Our Prayer Ministry is alive and growing and on active duty 365 days a year. People know we are here! They phone us, stop us after service or in the grocery store and ask to be included in our prayers. Knowing that others care, pray and keep us close in heart reassures all of us that we’re not alone on this earthly journey.
When we pray, we pray as Christ taught us. Jesus said: “when you pray, go into a room alone and close the door. Pray to your Father in private.” We do pray quietly, faithfully and privately for the emotional, physical and spiritual well-being of those whose names we’ve been given. Our goal is to offer their needs, in confidence, to our loving and compassionate Lord. We trust that his grace will bring them comfort, peace and renewal.
Our prayer chain of 15, function as interconnected “links” who pass along prayer requests to each other until all 15 have been contacted and prayer begins. Our Prayer Chain family is comprised of 2 co-ordinators, 3 group leaders, 9 members and our Rector, Bill Gray. Jill Bromley is our very capable and personable leader. She efficiently co-ordinates our efforts and gently reminds us, on a regular basis, that we are an integral part of a very important pastoral ministry at All Saints’. We are so blessed that she has agreed to lead us!
If we can be of any help to you, please contact the church office.
