We are seeking Donations for “Earthquake Relief”
Can you Help?

❖ A deadly earthquake struck north-west Iran /Iraq border 2 weeks ago. Our refugee family, Nasrin and Ahmad Naseri, whom we sponsored 2 years ago, have been tragically affected by this quake.

❖ Their villages, Sarpol-E-Zahb and Qal-eh-Badri, have been destroyed. To Date, Nasrin and Ahmad have lost 40 family members; cousins, aunts and uncles. Nasrin’s mother was missing for days, then, miraculously, was found in the rubble a few days ago, and airlifted to a hospital in Tehran. She is in ICU in critical condition.

❖ It is very, very cold there now… 2-4 degrees C at night with rain and snow. They have no shelter, no food, no water or blankets. They have salvaged their rugs from beneath the rubble of their homes. They sleep on their rugs on the ground. They are in a desperate state and need our
help!

❖ The leader of their faith is working with Nasrin’s brother, to get supplies and help to their family and villagers in their home communities. Nasrin and Ahmed sent $1000.00. to her brother who bought blankets, food and water to give to as many people as he could reach. Her brother’s little
blue pick up truck is a welcome sight!

❖ We ask for your prayers and financial support for Nasrin, Ahmad, their family and communities in Iran at this very difficult time. We have so much… now they have so very little! Please consider making a donation to “Earthquake Relief at All Saints”. in the name of a friend or family member as a Christmas Gift… or, simply as a one time donation to help provide the basic necessities for survival.

❖ Please be aware, though, that we will not be able to issue tax receipts for these donations as they are going directly to the individuals concerned and not to a relief organization.

❖ Make your donation today! They need help urgently! You may donate by cash or cheque ( make cheque to All Saints Anglican Church with Earthquake Relief in the bottom left memo line.)
Place cash donations in an envelope marked Earthquake Relief. Attention: Suzanne McMillan
❖ To those who have responded so spontaneously and with such generosity, a sincere thank you from the Naseri family. May God’s peace and blessing be upon you at this time.

Yours in Christ, Suzanne McMillan

*** The Special Vestry was held in the Parish Hall this morning (November 12). After prayers, reading of and the moving and seconding the motion*, there was a period for clarification of questions from members of the congregation.

Following the approval of a motion to "put the question", the ballots were collected.

The results are as follows:

# of members registering to vote = 129

# voting for the motion = 21

# voting against the motion = 107

1 spoiled ballot.

The meeting ended with prayer, a motion to destroy the ballots and adjournment. ***

*Be it resolved that;
We, the Vestry of All Saints’ Anglican Church (Peterborough), amalgamate with the churches of the Peterborough Covenant to form a new parish at the site of the present St John the Evangelist Anglican Church.
